My Story

By day, I am a Marketing Specialist.

By night, I am a chore girl, graphic designer and farmhouse cook.

My name is Kelsey. I love animals, cooking and square toed boots. I have a hardworking husband, a small herd of cows and a Saint Bernard named "Taos."

I grew up on a farm in southwest Nebraska and live a mile south of where I grew up. My brother and I were active 4-H members and participated in everything from Baking and Rocketry to "Decorate-Your-Duds." We also showed rabbits, market steers and literally everything in between!

As I got older, I realized how much I truly loved my show cattle and "barn therapy" time each day and, thanks to a great couple from North Platte, NE, was able to start showing cattle on the national level. I was proud to serve on the American Maine-Anjou Association Junior Board of Directors and also be their "Maine-Anjou Princess" for a year. Even though I eventually got too old to show in junior shows and the expense of college got in the way of my show days, I knew I wanted to pursue a career where I got to work within the livestock industry.

Between my junior and senior year of college at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, I interned with Shorthorn Country magazine - a national breed publication based out of Omaha, NE, where I learned the art of graphic design and found out I had a knack for it. I now have my own graphic design business where I provide graphic design and marketing services to ag businesses and cattlemen across the country.

I also am a Marketing Specialist for the south region of 17 John Deere dealerships in Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska. There is seldom a dull moment in my days at work!

Although I don't have a lot of spare time, I enjoy playing golf, photography, traveling and trying new (and old) recipes.

Welcome to Cows, Plows & Farmhouse Chow -- I hope you enjoy my blog!
